This is extremely helpful if you want your child to practice their math facts timed. It has helped my child with her gifted math class
Mad Minute: Mastering Number Facts, Grades1-8We used this like a game for the memorizations and the kids LOVED it. I gave out smelly stickers to the winners and some years I let eh winners eat lunch with me in the room. It made it different enough to be fun for them and learn their facts by practice.
This is one of those staples that all teachers should own. I have witnessed over and over again how consistency with the administration of these helps students to get to know their facts very quickly. It is rewarding when they see their time improve from week to week and it is a daily measure of progress. I highly reccomend this for any teacher to own and use in their teaching or tutoring practices.
Mad Minute is a great way to "warm" up your students at the beginning of a lesson. I used it in summer school and again as I was helping a young math student with basic math facts. Doing the simple problems got them/her into a "math mode" and they were ready for the math lesson.
This is a great review tool! It's being used in three parallel fourth grade classes.
This is an excellent book to help children with math facts. I used this book for many years teaching elementary grades. It does the job of teaching students their math facts no matter what grade. They love the time limit and try to beat their previous time. It can just be used, too, to practice without time.
I had an older copy of this and I had lost one whole unit, so this is to replace the other book. I loved using it with my students in the past! Thanks.
